what i have been up to...

Whoosh! This last week went by like a flash..everytime I thought I had a minute to sit down and write a post, I would feel guilty because I had 10 other things up in the air! I finally have a quick minute to update everyone on my doings...

First I started a little (emphasis on little) card business and have been busily making cards to sell...I don't know how long I will keep this up..it is very time consuming, but nice to have a fun and creative outlet each day...i just don't want my crafting time to become bothersome in any way..so we will see how long this lasts...1 day...10 days..a year? who knows.

a few of the packs of cards

I've also made a little time at night to whip up some christmas decorations..this has been super fun...kind of recharged my imagination!..which, by the way, feels so nice!
I'm going to take this idea and apply it to a few themes...look for projects to come!
Decorating the surf shack for Christmas...you know how important that is! However, I got a fun idea to use this as my backdrop for my Christmas cards...now i just have to get the models to work it for me...they are a little hesitant!:)

the wreath inside was another quick project!..

and of course, I am keeping thoroughly busy with my boys...we are loving Christmas season and all of the fun that comes along with it!

too cute!

happy monday

Today we took BJ to school and on the way he was telling me that his brother, Drew, calls Booker Pablo, from the Backyardigans...I can kind of see the resemblence! So we were talking about that and laughing, and all of a sudden from the back seat, Booker blurted out, "Daddy, I'm not Pablo, I don't have a beak!" So cute.

Then we came home, and I jumped in the shower and much to my displeasure, when I got out this is what I found:

Yep, that's our computer desk, and yes that is crayon! I love it when I make a resolution in the morning that there will be no yelling, no getting frustrated, only staying calm all day...and this happens at 8am. I kid you not, I had many things to say, but then I remembered that I was going to be calm all day, got the camera out, took a picture and then looked at the crayon that said-washable...and sighed a huge sigh of relief..both that I knew it would clean off, and that I didn't get mad. One down, 3 million more to go today!

Happy Monday!

tagged

Okay, so because Jessica tagged me, you may now know any weird or slightly annoying fact about me!

The rules:

A. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning.

B. Each player lists 6 facts/habits about themselves.

C. At the end of the post, the player then tags 6 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

1. I grew most of my growing up life in a tiny town called Battle Mountain, NV. This is the town at night:

Did you see that sign...hell? Some people thought/think this is true. I really loved it growing up and knew nothing different until I left..and then my eyes were opened!:) The hardest thing growing up in a small town is just that...it is small. Small enough that in one year, I had my mom 3 classes a day, and my dad 1 time..and then my dad coached my basketball team that night! I guess I was lucky to have a majority of good teachers..haha! The town was small enough that a boy asked me out in 8th grade...I said "yes" then recounted that answer by the end of the day because my parents had already heard...and I didn't want to hear their wrath that night! nice! Luckily the boy was one of my best friends all through high school, so I lucked out! Battle Mountain, and I still do think this, has a beauty all of its own. Aside from being named "The Armpit of America" or having the letters BM plastered on its mountainside for all to see, I can still remember the smell of yummy sagebrush, the beautiful purple mountains at night and many a days running out in the desert and just being thankful for all of the beauty around me.

Downtown Battle Mountain (if you take a really close look you can see the blinking red light...the only big 4 way stop in town..not even big enough for a stop light!)

There really is a big BM on the mountain, nice, huh!

This is the pretty I am talking about!

I think a small town was also small enough to really afford me a lot of opportunities to do a lot of activities..and this is no joke...which leads me into #2

2. Just so you can get a little glimpse of my childhood..which was amazing..I took part in and participated in:

*fitness team (3rd-5th graders who had all kinds of fitness challenges and competed against other towns)

*gymnastics...don't laugh..well. only a little!

*jump roping team...we performed at high school basketball half times

*basketball (3rd-12th grade!)
*soccer (1st-5th grade)
*track (6th-12th grades)
*volleyball (8th-12th grades)
*softball (kindergarten-10th grade)
*golf (only 9th grade)
*drill team (6th-8th, 11th-12th grade) okay, now you can laugh!:)
and these were just the teams...and what makes this list amazing to me....my parents started up every youth program in the town, coached them, and then put events on in the city as well..ex..turkey trot (thanksgiving day race), 4th of july swim meets, etc...and here is one more interesting fact about me...my parents made sure one or both of them were at EVERY SINGLE game of every one of us 5 kids games/meets/performances..the only reason only one of them was there, was because one kid was at a game 3 hours one way, and the other was 3 hours the opposite way..so they split up! I was always so greatful they were there!..a lot of times being the ONLY parent there at all! I feel really blessed to have the parents I do. They always created a lot of opportunities for everyone around them, not only their children!

#3 I have lived in Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Georgia, Utah, Alberta, Canada, and now Ohio...and have found awesome things about each of these places..each one has made me a little more the person who I want to be!

#4 When I was 6 or 7, my best friend and I came up with a list of things I wanted to do when I got older..and this is no lie..my list was:
*to never drink (check!) (a hard one coming from my town)
*to play college sports (check, check)
*to go on a misison (check!)
*to get married when I was 23 (whoops!)
*to marry a lawyer (i just wanted to be rich..and my friend said lawyers were rich..little did they know!haha)
*to not be a teacher (my parents were both teachers..i hated the politics)
some things were VERY important then ;)...and all came to be, some by accident except I was married 34 days after my 24th birthday!:) Weird looking back why I put an age on getting married!:)

#5 I have had kidney stones 4 times in my life..OWWW! just to think about it makes me cringe! Doctors always told me that the pain of having babies would be no problem for me because of the kidney stones experiences..however...I must've had male doctors who had never been through labor before....both are awful.....both hurt......the only great thing about child birth is you get to hold your sweet baby after it...with kidney stones, you get nothing!:)

#6 I have had illustrations/technical drawings published in 2 books...BJ's uncle writes books and asked me to do them for him...so it was for family, however...it takes some people forever to get published the first time, so I feel really lucky and blessed. Hopefully one day soon, I will have my own children's book I have written and illustrated out on shelves..now that would be a dream come true!:)

I think the only ones left on my list to tag are Anne and Keri..Tag, you're it!

Lincoln's update!

And of course we also have to have a Lincoln update as well! Here are Lincoln's favorite things to do:

*He loves to follow his big brother around and jump with him on the bed. We put this video on for them, and they will jump on our bed for 1/2 hour if we keep replaying it...

They are so contagious with their laughter..Beej and I can't help but jump along with them!

*He loves to sing the song Nephi's courage and does the cutest actions with them..he flexes his muscles on "Nephi was couragous and this was his reply", pumps his fist on "I will go, I will do" and moves his head back and forth for the rest of the verse!...so cute!

*His favorite movie is any Go, Diego,Go and loves to clap and do the animal sounds with his friend, Diego....my favorite sound he does is the wolf...he purses his lips into a perfect little circle and howls...but his voice breaks like he is in puberty at least 3 times while making the sound...so stinkin darling!

*He is in love with his daddy! As soon as we turn the corner at BJ's school to pick him up, Lincoln grins and says "Dadda, Dadda, Dadda" and kicks his legs so fast like he is warming up for a good chasing when he gets home!"

*By far, his favorite food is pizza...he loves to take the pizza and put his hand over it and say "haaaaa" for hot (even if it isn't) then picks it up and proceeds to eat every bit of cheese off of the piece first, then starts from the middle of the piece and eats out...a very messy process, but one he enjoys thoroughly!:)

*And of course he is also just a little ball of energy, hugs, kisses (that have to be on the lips or he will kiss you until it is on the lips), smiles and stubborness. Just what I expect from my little sweet boy!

what booker's been up to...

Booker has been having a fabulous month. He has kept himself very busy and keeping me just as busy (which shouldn't surprise anyone!) I thought I'd update everyone on Booker's latest doings...so you all feel Booker connected!

*He loved Halloween and especially loves looking at the large bowl of candy in the kitchen. His famous line lately has been, "Mom, I am soooooooo hungry. I need some candy." haha...do you ever have those moments that you think...'do they really think I am buying this?'..or I imagine things that I said to my parents growing up..thinking I could "trick" them...love it!

*Every time he gets in the car from being at school...if I don't ask him how his day at school was right away, he says, "Mom, ask me how my day at school was, sweetie!"...and so I do, and he tells me he worked really hard and is ready for a sandwich. He got in the car the other day and I asked what a drew a picture of.."South America", he said nonchalantly! Love him!...and just this morning we were looking though a toy magazine and he saw a globe and pointed to a continent and said, "Dad, look, that's South America..and there is North America...etc..." He is loving school and so are we!:)

*He LOVES to play hide and seek. The other day he was playing with Beej, and he was suppose to hide...so I watched him and this is what he did:

I love the logic that if your face is hidden, no one can see you...I wish that's how it worked sometimes in life!:)

*This morning while playing hide and seek, it was Bookers turn to count and he said, "1,2,3,4,5,6,8..("seven", I said to him)..7,12, 5, 4,3,2,1, ready or not, you will be catch!" BJ and I died laughing so hard for a few minutes.

*Anytime we sing a verse of a song with the word "boat" in it, booker thinks we are talking about Noah's ark...and always adds the words..."and put the animals in it" into the verse, so while we are singing Nephi's Courage it goes a little something like..The Lord commanded Nephi to go and build a boat (and put the animals in it)...as you can see...it makes it a little awkward, but completely cute!

*And of course, he is still running, imagining, creating, playing and laughing just like he has his whole life! He sure adds a lot of life to my life and I will always love him for it!:)

some cuties

Today Savvy and Charlotte came to visit for a little bit and we had such a great time with them. I don't think I have ever seen 2 kids who play so hard together! These two (Booker and Savanna) ran and jumped and screamed and giggled and wrestled and never stopped! I caught a few cute ones of them together while on a walk! I think they are pretty darling!

who do they look like

I love the question always posed..who does your child look like more, you or your husband...apparently our children both got 50/50...i have never seen this on one of these before! Shouldn't they be identical then?:)
